Hello Again,

  • Cost of Fabric- $2.00/yd
  • Time to create pattern- 1 day
  • Time of sewing garment- 1 day
  • Wearing an original design that was designed by you (the designer)- Priceless!!!
I am so happy that I created something that I designed for my body.  Everyone loved this dress!!!

Until Next Time!!

Love of New Lipsticks

If you all have been reading my posts, you will notice that on April 7, 2013, I had posted about the many fashion colors of spring.  Besides clothing, you can also create many spring combinations with your makeup!! I give you two brands of lipstick I have fallen in love with

  • Blue Rose by New York Color (NYC)
  • Rose Hip by Milani
This is how Blue Rose looks on my lips

It gives your lips a pop of pink with a shimmering hint of blue.  It is very rich, but it looks like a light lip gloss on this picture.  It's also moisturizing.

This is how Rose Hip looks on my lips

It gives your lips an intense pop of color.  You can wear it matte, or glossy.  It is your choice.

If I find more spring colors for your face, as well as your body, I will be sure to post it for you.

Until Next Time!!

Rest In Peace Lilly Pulitzer

I was looking on Stylesight (blog.stylesight.com), and I saw a post that said "Rest In Peace Lilly P."  I was in shock when I found out that Lilly Pulitzer founder, designer, and socialite Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau died on April 7, 2013 at the age of 81.  If you are unfamiliar with Lilly Pulitzer, she was married to the grandson of Joseph Pulitzer, well known newspaper publisher, and creator of the Pulitzer Prize.  Once they were settled in Palm Beach, FL, she started making beach dresses that were known for its bright, colorful, floral prints.

She is also known for designing dresses for First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy, with whom she attended high school.  Here is a picture of Jackie O in a Lilly Pulitzer design.

Although I am sadden that she has passed away, she left great style and bright, colorful prints that no one can compete with.  She was not afraid of being bold and colorful!

Rest in Peace Lilly P.  We will miss you.

Outfits/Garments for Spring

Hello Again!!

It is Spring!!! After experiencing cold and rainy weather all of March, I am happy to see sunshine and warm weather!!! And for everyone who loves spring (including me!), the first thing you see is new fashion.  From what I have seen from different fashion blog sites, and street wear, I will show what is still in season, and what new trends have emerged.

  • Peplum Dress/Shirts- These shirts, and dresses, have become very popular.  Not only do they give the flirty flounce that all women love, but it also gives you a narrow waistline.

  • Bright-Colored Jeans-  These jeans have also been in season for quite some time.  I love them because they give a colorful pop to any shirt! (Pictures are found on www.stylisheve.com)

  • High-Low Maxi Dresses/Skirts- I love the high-low dresses/skirts because it is lightweight, and it gives an elegant, but relaxed feel to an outfit. (Pictures found on www.stylisheve.com and www.lyst.com)

  • Stripes-  This trend has become very popular.  Whether black and white or bright colors, this will create textures and dimension to any outfit. (Pictures by www.stylisheve.com)

I hope these looks will inspire your spring wardrobe as much as they have inspired mine.  If you would like more style inspiration, please check out the following websites:

1920s Fashion

Ok, so if you all have been reading this blog, you will know that I have favorite decades in fashion.  I have already discussed the 50s, and why that is my favorite decade; now I will talk about the 20s.  History about the 20s:  After WWI, women were tired of being stuffed in corsets to create an hourglass shape.  They wanted to be free to dress how they wanted to dress, and not have to feel constricted.  Fashion had changed slightly during the 1910s when the hobble skirt was created, but it was not enough.  When the 1920s came around, fashion went from this:

To this:

Thanks to designers like Coco Chanel, women had gotten rid of the corsets and the S-Curve dresses, and started wearing knee-length dresses with more drape.  We should thank Coco Chanel for creating dresses and separates that are more relaxing for women to wear.  She truly changed fashion forever.

The hairstyles had even changed.  During the early 1900s, women wore their hair long, so they would pull it back in a fancy bun and wear a decorative hat.  By the 1920s, the hair was cut in a boy-short bob, and the waves became popular.  Derby hats became popular as well.  Here are some examples.

One trend that became really popular in 1920s fashion is the flapper style.  Webster describes flappers as:

"a "new breed" of young Western women in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior. Flappers were seen as brash for wearing excessive makeup, drinking, treating sex in a casual mannersmoking, driving automobiles, and otherwise flouting social and sexual norms.

These girls were considered "The Bad Girls Club" during the 1920s.  Here are some examples of the Flapper fashion:

Most people would not find anything wrong with these outfits, but the modest people of the 1920s felt this look was not classy at all!!  Thanks to the flappers, this style will always and forever be a part of fashion!

Until Next Time (and with another decade)!
